Waverly Park

The Waverly Park neighborhood is bordered by Sleeper Avenue to the north, Interstate 85 to the east, Bryant Avenue to the south and Grant Road to the west. Like much of the imagessurrounding area, this community began as an orchard. In fact, it was not developed from the Levin orchard of the 1850s until over 100 years later. Compared to surrounding neighborhoods, the median home price is high at $1.6M, and condos are not availability within this community.

There is an unusually high number of childcare facilities in and around this neighborhood, including the YMCA Way to Grow Full-Day Preschool, the El Camino YMCA, St. Timothy’s Nursery School, Primary Plus and the Parent Nursery School. Public schools that serve the area include Mountain View HIgh School, Graham Middle School and Huff Elementary School; private schools, on the other hand, include St. Francis High and St. Joseph, both located on Miramonte Avenue.

Unlike other communities in the area which are named after their included parks, Waverly Park actually contains a park called Cooper. It’s got a large grassy area, a playground, and two public tennis — as well as two public baseball fields — that residents truly get a lot of use and value from. However, when it comes to shopping, three centers are frequented by residents: Nob Hill, Grant Park Plaza and Blossom Valley, in addition to Downtown Mountain View.

In Downtown Mountain View events like the Sunday Farmer’s Market, and the 49er Game Day Specials at stores like Tied House and Books Inc., are always popular. Grant Park Plaza, Nob Hill Grocery and the Blossom Valley Shopping Center are all located nearby: Grant Park to the north, Blossom Valley to the east and Nob Hill just around the corner. Stores range from big box outlets to 99 Ranch Market to Walgreens and Marshalls. North along Route 82 is the most convenient and comprehensive area for dining, including a range of largely ethnic cuisine providers, like Satkar Indian, Himalayan Kitchen, Satsuma neighborhood Sushi and Togo’s counter-serve hot and cold sandwiches.
