Stierlin Estates is located at the intersection of the Bayshore Freeway and the West Valley Freeway, between West Middlefield Road, North Shoreline Boulevard and San Lucas Avenue. Across these freeways is the main portion of the Stevens Creek Trail, which is a hugely unique characteristic of this neighborhood. Here, without even taking the trail south, residents can hike, bike and walk through the paved trails, which wind around the beautiful foliage and scrub in the area. The other unique feature of Stierlin Estates is, of course, its immediate access to multiple freeways, providing residents a less stressful commute.
This neighborhood was transformed notably by the increasing population of employees at Yahoo, Google and other Silicon Valley companies. While traffic has increased in the area, so has demand for rental homes and day care services. The median condo price in Stierlin Estates was $734,500 in 2013, while the media condo price that same year was slightly higher at $735,000; generally condos cost a somewhat substantial amount less than homes in the Mountain View area, which proves how popular they are in this quaint neighborhood.
Only public schools serve this community, and they include Monta Loma Elementary, Crittenden Middle and Mountain View and Los Altos High Schools. Crittenden Middle is the most conveniently located, only a few blocks to the east of the community, while the elementary is further east and the high schools are a substantial drive south along the Norman Y Mineta Highway.
Fiesta Del Mar and Taco Bell are located within the community for quick meals, but the closest true hub of dining is located just south along Shoreline Boulevard. Here there is nearly every type of restaurant residents could want, from contemporary American dining at Scratch, to sushi at Sushitomi, to pan-Latin at Cascal, to Italian at Ristorante Don Giovanni and upscale vietnamese at Xanh. Shoreline is also where the best shopping is located for residents of Stierlin Estates. Just a few of the shops include Jane’s Beer Store, Seascapes Fish & Pets, West Valley Music, CVS and the Mountain View General Store.
